Dated 1884, the structure is situated about a thousand meters above Lake Como, surrounded by mountains and woods. Villa Pietraluna owes its name to the eponymous erratic boulder within the property boundaries. It is a large rock transported in ancient times by glaciers, on which a crescent moon was engraved in the sixteenth century. According to historians, the symbol was commissioned by the Abbot of S. Ambrogio to celebrate the end of disputes between the territories of Magreglio and Bellagio.
