Destination Wedding Photographer in Italy

A reportage approach for couples traveling to Italy to get married.A natural, discreet shoot focused on the story.

Getting married in Italy often means planning from abroad, working with local vendors, and living the day in a place you may know only through photos.
My work is to document it as it happens, with a quiet presence, attention to people, and respect for the pace of the day.

Real wedding stories in Italy

Three complete stories, three different settings, the same approach.

A wedding in Venice

A day shaped by tight streets, shifting light, and a pace that changes with the water.

A wedding in Rome

From quiet moments to a city that never really goes silent, a story built around people and timing.

A wedding in Tuscany

Open landscapes, long sunsets, and a slower rhythm, with space for what matters most.

Where in Italy I work

I photograph destination weddings across Italy. Some places return more often because they shape the day in a specific way: light, pace, and atmosphere.
Here are a few settings I’ve worked in, with stories you can view in full.

How I work with couples planning from abroad

Planning a wedding in Italy from another country means making decisions at a distance, often with a tight schedule once you arrive. My job is to keep the photography side simple and predictable: clear communication, a realistic timeline, and a presence that doesn’t interfere with the day. The goal is to let you live it fully, and have a story that feels true to what happened.

Before the wedding

We align on priorities, light, and timing, so the day flows naturally without forcing moments. The engagement session is included: it helps you get comfortable in front of the camera and makes everything feel more natural on the wedding day.
If you’d like video coverage, I can coordinate with videomakers I trust, working with the same discreet approach.

During the day

I work discreetly, following what unfolds and staying close to what matters, without directing the day.

After the wedding

I curate the edit as a complete narrative, so the final gallery reads like a single, coherent story.

What the service includes

The service is designed as one continuous story, from the days leading up to the wedding to the final delivery. These elements are part of the same process, built to keep the experience simple and the result coherent.

Engagement session (included)

A relaxed session before the wedding to build confidence in front of the camera and keep things natural on the day.

Full-day coverage

From preparations to the evening after the cake cutting, with continuity across the whole day.

Video (when requested)

I can coordinate with videomakers I trust, working with the same discreet approach.

Album (on request)

On request, a curated, designed album that completes the story in a physical form, in continuity with the photographs.

Words from the couples

A few short notes from couples who got married in Italy, in very different settings.

We booked Matteo in Italy for our wedding, and despite being thousands of miles away in the United States, he put all our worries to rest. From the very beginning, he was incredibly communicative, making the entire process of booking and planning seamless and stress-free and made us sure that we were booking a professional photographer.

He and his team were punctual, professional, and exceptionally easy to work with. Over the course of two days, he meticulously captured every moment we had envisioned. He was so kind to us during the process, easing our awkwardness (as one feels when taking intimate pictures) and brought our love to life in the camera.

Even after delivering the final album, he graciously addressed all my additional requests without any hesitation. His dedication to ensuring our satisfaction was evident throughout the entire experience.

Planning a wedding abroad in a foreign country where you are not familiar with the vendors can be a daunting task!

I was therefore overjoyed when I came across Matteo's website, and the high quality photos that he had taken! I was delighted when he confirmed his availability for our wedding date.

Matteo is knowledgeable, patient and very efficient, which is very important when based abroad. He took excellent photos at our pre-wedding shoot which made us even more excited for our big day, and he certainly did not disappoint.

We love the photos and will cherish the memories captured always!!!

We chose Matteo for our wedding photoshoot in Rome and we could not be happier with the result.

The process was easy, fun and flexible. He has a great approach to work with you to find out what you want and give you also the expert advice to take some amazing shots.

He makes you feel very comfortable during the shoot, has great ideas for a range of photos and delivers perfect memories of the day. He was very accommodating to our needs and requests during the shoot and also with the final efforts.

We would definitely recommend him as a photographer.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work across Italy?

Yes. I work across Italy and travel based on the project and location. Details are always confirmed clearly in advance.

We’re planning from abroad, how does it work?

We keep everything simple: a few calls to align on priorities and timeline, and coordination where needed so you can focus on the experience.

Can we add video and an album?

Yes. Video coverage is available on request through videomakers I trust, with the same discreet approach. An album can also be added on request as the final chapter of the story.

Nice to meet you, I’m Matteo

Besides being a wedding photographer, I’m a husband (lucky!) and a dad (very lucky!).

I love happy tail wags and purring in the evening—so our family also includes two wonderful furry companions, Ottavia and Nova.

If I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me in the woods. And if I’m not there either, I’m on my motorcycle.

In recent years I’ve been selected among the top Italian wedding photographers by international websites.
