Wedding at Villa Barbarigo

Villa Barbarigo is one of the venues I've most appreciated during my experience as a wedding photographer in Padua. I've gathered all the most important information to help you learn about the history, the structure, and answer the most frequently asked questions about the villa. Enjoy!

Villa Barbarigo: the history

If you're looking for a fairy-tale wedding venue, you've found it. Villa Barbarigo is not only a historic residence, capable of evoking that vague sense of splendor and prestige of times gone by, but offers a unique setting for your most important day.

It's no coincidence that this estate is also known as "Little Versailles". Let's be clear: despite its austere appearance, like most Venetian villas, Villa Barbarigo presents itself as a truly prestigious wedding venue.

The oldest records of this place date back to the mid-fifteenth century, when Giacomo Scrovegni sold the property to Ludovico Contarini, a Venetian nobleman. This shouldn't be surprising, because at the time the estate was easily reachable from the lagoon city, through a dense system of canals that, crossing the Valley of Sant'Eusebio, reached the gastaldia. The construction of the villa, however, only began at the end of the 1500s, although the works that led to the creation of this princely estate continued by the will of the Barbarigo family throughout the seventeenth century.

But the real strength of Villa Barbarigo is the park, awarded in 2003 the prize "The most beautiful garden in Italy". It couldn't be otherwise. Waterfalls, streams and ponds blend harmoniously with statues, architecture and fish ponds, which contribute to making the park a place rich in suggestion and charm.

Wedding Atmosphere at Villa Barbarigo

For couples planning a wedding in Galzignano Terme, in the Padua area, Villa Barbarigo can support an elegant but natural visual story, especially when the day is photographed with a reportage approach.

Its most interesting quality is the balance between elegance and lived-in moments, which keeps the reportage refined but not rigid. Its position in Veneto adds a territorial reference to the visual story without making the images feel generic.

Villa Barbarigo: the structure

Villa Barbarigo's hospitality manifests itself in many ways. From allowing the organization of a simple aperitif to permitting access to film crews, the venue always welcomes its guests with elegance and refinement. Especially if renting the venue is aimed at a wedding reception, which as we know, is the moment par excellence when everything must be perfect.

Besides its elegant and refined appearance, Villa Barbarigo is the ideal wedding venue for two excellent reasons. The first is that it's located in the Valley of Sant'Eusebio, in the middle of the Euganean Hills Park, but at the same time is only 18 kilometers from Padua. Easily accessible from many Venetian cities, the estate also sits on the border with the Padua Golf Club, a fact that can be interesting, especially if you intend to stay at the estate for a few days.

Renting the venue for the wedding, in fact, can become an opportunity to spend a few days with your loved ones, who can stay in the elegant suites overlooking the garden or reside in the holiday homes, true rustic-style buildings, but equipped with every kind of luxury and comfort.

With the hosts, moreover, you can arrange visits to specific portions of the park, such as the romantic labyrinth, the Piazza delle Rivelazioni in front of the villa, or the Ca' Martinengo hunting lodge, where you can admire a splendid exhibition of over 300 square meters.
