I have gathered all the most important information so you can learn more about the history, the structure and answer the most frequently asked questions about the villa. Enjoy your reading!
Villa Attems: a history of over 500 years
The historic Villa Attems is located in Lucinico, in the heart of the Collio, between Italy and Slovenia. The residence dates back to the 15th century, as reported in an official document of 1546. The Villa initially belonged to the noble Postcastro family, and then passed by inheritance in the 16th century to the Cernozza family.
The Cernozza family thus became the last feudal lords of Lucinico before the arrival of the Attems. In 1649, the heir to the Cernozza family married Maximilian Attems, bringing the estate as dowry. From this moment, the expansion and embellishment of the complex began.
Over the decades, Villa Attems was passed down from generation to generation. In the twentieth century it passed to Count Sigismondo Douglas Attems Petzenstein. Unfortunately, this was also the beginning of the most difficult period for the structure, the period between the two World Wars.
The village of Lucinico, due to its frontier position, became a war zone. Villa Attems was severely damaged during this period and was partially destroyed. The Count did not lose heart and began a slow recovery of the structure and the surrounding area despite this. In 1963, the Collio Consortium was founded.
Today the Villa, which has returned to its former glory, is managed by Virginia Attems, the current owner together with her husband Paolo Giasone. Virginia and Paolo upgraded and renovated the complex with great insight and innovation, transforming it into a fairytale location. Since 2015, Villa Attems has been open for events and weddings, also continuing its function as a farmhouse.

Villa Attems: the perfect setting for a classic and refined wedding
Villa Attems is an enchanting venue for a fairytale wedding. It is the perfect setting for an elegant and sophisticated wedding in a location steeped in history. A short distance from Gorizia, you will find a true green oasis where time seems to stand still.
What is most striking about Villa Attems is undoubtedly the great variety of spaces made available to its guests. In fact, every corner of the mansion is well-kept and usable for your event.
Surrounded by a lush, centuries-old park, the Villa offers bucolic views perfect for romantic shoots and summer receptions. You can also ask to have your emotional civil ceremony under the large lime tree. Strolling along the beautiful paths, dotted with flowering bushes, it is impossible not to fall in love with this place.
The refined interiors of the main building and the adjoining structures are of course also available to the bride and groom. If you are looking for a more rustic setting, simple but still well-kept, the Salone della Barchessa and the Scuderia will be perfect for you. Here you can organise an elegant but more relaxed reception, suitable for simpler and more convivial couples.
Do you prefer a more opulent location with an antique feel? The large Sala dei Conti will surprise you. Here you can admire the eighteenth-century paintings and some period furniture, which will immediately give a touch of class to your event. In addition, thanks to the assistance of the staff, your wedding will be truly refined and attended to in every detail.
Villa Attems is truly the ideal location for an elegant wedding, suitable for couples seeking an oasis of peace. Choosing it will ensure that you will always have a sweet memory of your wedding.
Villa Attems: the structure of the location
Villa Attems, as you may have guessed, is a magical place that will fill your heart with sweet memories. Located in the verdant countryside of Gorizia, it is one of the most beautiful historic villas in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Villa Attems is now more beautiful than ever thanks to the owners' redevelopment work despite the damage suffered during the World Wars.
Passing through the elegant gate of the complex, you immediately enter its well-kept park. The park boasts countless varieties of plants, including several centuries-old trees. The paths that cross it allow you to observe some hidden gems, such as a 1760 fountain by Nicolò Pacassi. There is also an ancient well and the refined belvedere, a small, perfectly preserved stone tower.
Reaching the complex's buildings, we then find a Barchessa, the Stables and the main body of the Villa. These rooms have been completely renovated, but retain all the charm of the old eighteenth-century villas.
The Barchessa offers a huge, bright hall, characterised by a beautiful parquet floor and wooden ceiling. It also features a spectacular stained-glass window that opens directly onto the Villa Attems park. The ambience is similar to that of the Stables, where, however, the touch of red on the walls gives an even fresher and more youthful atmosphere.
Adjacent to the Barchessa, the Sala dei Conti is distinguished by its refinement. Attention has been paid to the smallest details, with beautiful period elements that will make you relive times gone by. Here, you can organise the cake cutting or arrange your favours for your guests.
Villa Attems is truly one of the most enviable and enriching locations in this beautiful region and is sure to provide you with unforgettable moments.
