Villa Polfranceschi: the history
Villa Polfranceschi is a refined historic mansion located in Poiano, a charming village and hamlet of Verona. Built according to the canons of ancient Venetian manor houses, the structure was erected in 1480 at the behest of the Franchi family. Later, with the marriage of the last Franchi heir, Villa Polfranceschi passed into the hands of the Moscardo family, wealthy landowners.
The Moscardo family inhabited the mansion for more than two centuries, devoting themselves to its expansion. In the second half of the seventeenth century, in fact, the Moscardos demolished part of the buildings in the complex to make the layout of the court more symmetrical. They then built numerous rustic cottages, in which to house workers in their fields.
In 1837 the last heir of the Moscardo family, Countess Elisabetta, married Count Girolamo Polfranceschi, bringing the mansion as a dowry. Villa Polfranceschi, however, slowly began to lose its charm as it was neglected by its owners.
Fortunately, thanks to the intervention of Pierluigi Polfranceschi, a thorough restoration of the complex was commissioned in 1965. Villa Polfranceschi thus returned to its former glory, regaining its understated elegance. Open to the public, today the complex is managed by Mr. Carlo, who impeccably organizes exclusive events and weddings.

Villa Polfranceschi: the structure of the location
Villa Polfranceschi, as we anticipated, is a 16th-century mansion in a perfectly preserved state. Although it looks almost anonymous outside its perimeter, beyond its gates it hides glimpses of rare beauty. Entering the complex, in fact, visitors find themselves unexpectedly surrounded by the greenery of the splendid centuries-old park.
Walking up the internal avenue, gently embraced by manicured hedges and flowering bushes, one then reaches the garden of Villa Polfranceschi. Made available for the organization of summer events, it houses a romantic rose garden and an ancient well, which will serve as the backdrop for your wedding shoots.
Approaching the buildings that make up the Villa Polfranceschi complex, you then enter the scenic inner courtyard. Characterized by an unmistakable Renaissance decoration of red and white rhombuses and arches adorned with greenery, this space can host outdoor aperitifs and buffets. From here you reach the portico of the barchessa, a recently renovated rustic space that can seat about 130 people.
The first floor of the main body of Villa Polfranceschi is also available for events and weddings. With a maximum capacity of 110 people, these rooms are warm and familiar, in full 16th-century style. Prominent among them is the ancient kitchen, where a large fireplace towers. Finally, it is also possible to descend into the complex's cellars, now used as a ballroom.
