Villa Gallici Deciani: a centuries-old history

Villa Gallici Deciani is a historic mansion dating back to the 17th century located in Cassacco, in the province of Udine. The Villa was built on the heights of Colle Degan, where there were the ruins of a medieval castle. It was built by the Gallici family, originally from Bergamo, but who moved to Friuli to establish a flourishing agricultural activity.

During the 18th century the Villa was entirely decorated with fine Venetian stucco and frescoes. Splendid mosaics were also created in the 'terrazzo' style then in vogue. With the marriage of the last heir of the Gallici family, the residence passed to the Deciani counts at the end of the 19th century. 

The first half of the 20th century was not a happy period for Villa Gallici Deciani. After being damaged during the First World War, the house was restored for the first time. It became an exclusive summer residence, but the quietness did not last long. With the beginning of the Second World War, the mansion was occupied first by German troops and then by the Allied forces.

Villa Gallici Deciani suffered further damage, which was added to the violent earthquake that devastated the region in 1976. However, the Deciani family did not lose heart and immediately began renovating and rebuilding the buildings. 

As early as 1987 the owners returned to live permanently in the Villa, opening parts of it to the public in the following years. Today Villa Gallici Deciani is an exclusive venue for events and weddings. In addition, the villa has been included by the FAI in its list of "Places of the Heart".

As we have mentioned, Villa Gallici Deciani has fortunately returned to its former glory. The residence is now considered one of the most refined and luxurious places in which to celebrate your wedding.

Villa Gallici Deciani: the structure of the location

Villa Gallici Deciani is one of the most successful examples of beautiful 18th-century Italian villas. The residence overlooks the Friulian Alps in an enormous park, rich in century-old trees and flowering bushes. After walking along a long tree-lined avenue, you reach the Villa's magnificent Italian-style garden. Perfect for organising summer events in the open air, it elegantly embraces the buildings of the complex, as well as a modern swimming pool.

In addition to the main building of Villa Gallici Deciani, we find the beautiful Barchessa and the ancient Cantine. Both of these have been restored and converted into event rooms, and feature the typical materials used in past centuries. Stone walls, ceilings with exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors... The rooms at your disposal are one more beautiful than the other and can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Entering the stately palace via the beautiful staircase, you are then transported to bygone eras. Here the interiors are luxurious, colourful and tastefully furnished with period elements. The large ballroom has a balcony and a fine marble floor, which will enchant your guests.

The Villa also has its own lounges and rooms where you can prepare for the ceremony. You can choose between a wedding suite and eleven other bedrooms, each with its own style and colour.
